the Very Worst Thing.

to not be able to Help someone going through a painful time. it's the Very Worst thing.
especially when you've been there, or somewhere similiar, yourself, and there's just nothing you can do but stand on the other side of it and watch it happen. 'coz it's no longer difficult for you, but you can't give that knowledge away, if it's even Knowledge...
i HATE this.

I find that the greatest help is a clear pair of ears, and/or a comfortable, non-judgemental space.
Your post isn't very specific, perhaps the matter is personal, but human issues like these are interesting to detail... an invitation to elaborate, I'd love to hear more.

it's not a specific post, 'coz it applies to lots of times and places and people. i don't feel helpful sometimes, in the face of peoples' difficulties, when we are discussing them. and some times it affects me quite strongly, in a rather ridiculous way. seeing as of course i can't help, 'coz i'm not them.
everyone for themselves, so to speak.

It's true...

watching someone go through a painful experience can be absolutely heartbreaking. But sometimes just reaching out to the person that you know is experiencing the hardship with a simple hand pat letting them know you're there is all that's needed.

Followed of course by a group hug and a few rounds of Kumbayah.

i'm not sure about prayers. i see your point, but i'm not sure i have a definition that is parallel...
